Vancouver Bound

2000. That’s the last time I stayed in lotusland. That trip was a waste. I went with the ex and all we did was visit her relatives. Shitty. This time is different. I’m going with the wife and the step-daughter. We’re staying at the somewhat storied Sylvia Hotel, located in the heart of downtown. It’s a small walk to Stanley Park and the beach is nearby. Goods.

The ostensible reason for this little jaunt is this: Springsteen is playing GM Place on March 31 and we’ve got floor seats. They ended up costing a bundle, but I have no doubt that they’ll be worth it. Bruce and the band have been kicking out exceptional shows by all accounts, and the setlists are a grab bag of great material – old stuff, new stuff, and some unexpected gems. Just to hear Darkness on the Edge of Town will be worth the trip and cost.

Of course, the real reason me and the fam are going is so we can spend some quality time with each other. This’ll likely be our only family vacation this year, so we’re planning to make it a good one. I’ll be shooting as much as I can with my new SLR. The wife is looking forward to a trip to Granville Island. The kid is going to be shopping. We’re flying out on March 25. See you when we get back.
