Upcoming Events

Well, PoFest 2008 is done and put to bed, and the events just keep rolling in. I’m doing a bunch of stuff in the coming weeks and rather than rely on my handy “events” sidebar, I thought I’d break tradition and do a full blown blog post. Here we go:

October 13, 2008 – Gravel is on CJSR on Thanksgiving Monday. I’ll be on between 12:00noon and 12:40pm discussing the local poetry scene with host Clarice Eckford.

October 15, 2008 – The Raving Poets begin their latest reading series, Born to Write. Every Wednesday night from October 15 to December 3, 2008. Kasbar Lounge, 10444 – 82 Avenue, Edmonton. Signup at 7:30 show at 8:00. Open stage poetry hosted by yours truly with musical accompaniment from the Raving Poets Band. Same rules as always: 16 readers chosen by random draw, one poem per poet no longer than five minutes. ALSO – keep an eye out for our brand new eye-popping, wicked fucking cool website redesign launching Friday, October 10, 2008. We’re raising the bar substantially, and we’re going into the publishing biz. More deets to follow, and I better see your ass down at the Kasbar. RavingPoets.com for details.

October 19, 2008 – I’m reading at a Beat Reading at Cafe Leva. Local wordsmith Joel Katelnikoff is staging a Sunday night beatnik reading at Cafe Leva, 11053 – 86 Avenue, Edmonton. CONFIRMED start time of 7:30pm. Other super-hot readers include Joel Katelnikoff, Greg Bechtel, Jeff Carpenter, and Nico Rogers. If you like your poetry the way you like your four-letter words, come and check it out.

November 1, 2008 – Reading at Mile Zero Dance Salon. I’ll be reading along with some great dancers and other artists. The ARTery, 9535 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton. REVISED 8:00pm start time. $12.00 cover, $10.00 if you’re a member of MZD. I truly love events like this wherein different factions of the arts community come together and listen to / view each other’s gifts. It’s an honour to be included.

Well, I think that’s quite enough activity for the time being. Over and out.

The CJSR interview sounds pretty cool. I’ll try and remember to tune-in. Raving Poets getting into publishing? Also cool.

RE: RP Publishing. It should be interesting, and I hope our little plan actually grabs on. I think it will.
