The CBC Poetry Face Off
This Wednesday (February 21, 2007) I'm participating in the CBC's annual Poetry Face Off. Every year, the CBC stages a poetry contest in which a few local poets are commissioned to write a poem to a given theme. This year's theme is "Made In Canada". They then perform the poem at the CBC's Center Stage in the City Center Mall. The performances are judged by an assembled audience a panel of judges. The winner of the contest goes on represent at the national contest, and the winner of that becomes the CBC's Poet In Residence for a year.
The other participants in this year's contest are Kerry Mulholland, Kathy Fisher, Daniel Poitras, and Ian Letourneau. Some stiff competition, to be sure. This year's theme is "Made In Canada". Strangely, I didn't have too much stress in deciding what to write about. The performance may be a different story. Kind of daunting, I think. It'll be fun in any case. Here are the complete details, and if you wanna come out and cheer on some genuine E-Town talent, please do show up.
