Some interesting links that I’ve stumbled upon recently. They may be of interest and/or relevance, maybe not.
- I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a digital SLR lately and I’ve come across two very helpful articles: This one from photo.net, and this one from Mike Davidson. Both offer great advice on choosing and building a SLR system.
- Here’s a fairly comprehensive list of Edmonton neighbourhoods, complete with (some badly written) descriptions of each. Interesting for the E-Towners out there.
- Super cool quote from David Foster Wallace on the nature of writing and art. “And now I’ve got a much less clear idea of what the point of art is, but I think it’s got something to do with loneliness and something to do with setting up a conversation between human beings.” Via DF and kottke.
- Kind of an old one, but the 2007 roundup from Regret The Error is a hilarious article detailing some of the most egregious errors made in the print media in ’07.
- Daniel Mall on playing to your strengths. I found this article quite inspiring. He’s talking about design here, but it’s good advice in general. Recognize what you’re good at and run with it.
- Three Little Pigs Deemed Too Offensive. What the hell? Come on, this is so ridiculous and reactionary that it hardly warrants a response. Via Butterflies and Wheels

Cool stuff, Mike. You’re right, those Edmonton neighbourhood descriptions are terribly written; still an interesting read, though.
If you’re interested in DSLR’s, these two blogs might help:

Thanks for those links, Adam. They both look interesting. Now all I have to do is come up with the $1k to buy one.

Yeah, that’s the main reason I haven’t delved into the world of DSLR photography. I often feel incredibly limited with just a point and shoot, but I don’t have the cash for an SLR (digital or not).
