Before Breakfast
breakfast an appetizer
ride into the coffee’d day
crack it to the caterpillars
flip off the crones
summer busts her bra
minds her electric cactus
the rest of us
whooooo in the dayblitz
spill the pills at night
interrogate streetpoles;
summer and her
darkrum’d belly button
humming green and pre snow
all of us
chooooing dead cars
folding paycheques into swans
bilked by headlines;
summer and her
stormy garters
holding dark above her knee
some of us
whooooo on the buses
longbred faces
bare and lonely to the day
