Someone Ever Write a Song About You?
You know, nobody has ever written a song about me. No ballads, no odes, nothing. Until last week, that is. Last week, Kerry and The Kid returned from their two week New Mexico sojourn. When they got home, I was informed that The Kid had composed a "performance piece" for me while on the road. That in itself is pretty cool. I was surprised to learn that this "performance piece" was actually a song, and that the song was about me. The thought of that kind of freaked me out. What if it's an I Hate You song, brazenly trotted out with no chance of escape for the receiver? Ah hell, it's about bloody time someone wrote a damn song about me.
It was a silly song to be sure. It was all about my curmudgeonliness and sometimes unshakable penchant for privacy. In other words, it was a beautiful tribute; A lovely gift, more lovely than any souvenir. Needless to say I was touched. And speechless. Very much so. How can I say thank you? I'm not sure I have the words. But now I can say with all honesty that someone (someone very special) wrote a song about me. And sang it for me. Man, this life just keeps getting better.
