Reading This Week at The Roar
This week is Roar Week in Edmonton. As one of the organizers, I can say with all honesty that it's been one fuck of a lot of work. Frankly, I'll be glad when the thing is over and I can relax and return to some semblance of "normal".
But before taking a well-deserved rest I'm doing an extended reading at The Roar. That's something that I rarely get to do and I'm looking forward to it. I'll be reading for about 25 minutes. Some old stuff and some new stuff. And a few covers, of course. Here's the skinny:
Mike Gravel and the Underground Gynecologists
A Rock and Roll Poetry Show
with J.D. Lavender and special guest Mark Kozub on bass guitar
Thursday, September 21, 2006
Mimi's Lounge : 10154-100 Street, Edmonton.
7:15pm to 8:15pm.
It's gonna be a hot show. I'm sure JD will blow the place apart. The guy's got so much heart and muscle. Mark tells me that he's gonna be "taking it to the next level" with TWO distortion pedals for his bass. ROCK!
If you can, I'd love for you join the literary/poetic and spoken-word mayhem that will be The Roar. Check the site for complete details - there are a TON of hot, hot events for this festival (almost TOO many). And, of course, I'd REALLY like it if you came to my reading. It would really suck if no one showed up. See you there!
