Neko, oh Neko, Where have you been?

It's been a year and a half since I have witnessed the redheaded songwriting wonder that is Neko Case. In the fall of 2004 I traveled to Seattle with my lovely Justine for the express purpose of seeing Neko in concert. It was money well spent, and Ms. Case did not disappoint. I have been thinking about a lot about that trip lately, maybe because Neko is playing E-Town on July 5th. And you can bet your red ass that I'm going to be there.

I'm usually not given to celebrity infatuation, and I wouldn't call Neko a proper celebrity in any case, but she's an exception. Ever since I first heard "Furnace Room Lullaby", I've been hooked. That voice. MAN, that VOICE. Evocative as all hell. And her writing is incredible. There's a deep restlessness imbued in her songs, along with no small amount of heartache and longing. I'm gonna really enjoy hearing and seeing her again.

But before Neko there is Wilco. Here on the 29th of June, this will mark the second time that I've seen Tweedy and company. I'll be attending the show with Mike Appleby, fellow Wilco appreciator. Should be a blast. Wilco kick out a good show.
