Friday Links
A modest collection of links that I have stumbled across recently. Posted on Fridays, usually. Not necessarily the latest and greatest (check digg or kottke for that), but things that I’ve found useful, interesting, and entertaining. Hope they’re of value.
- Sleevage – A weblog devoted to album cover art. Detailed writeups and photos of current and classic album art. A must-see for every music fan.
- Q10 – A lo-fi, portable, super-cool full-screen writing utility for windows. Fully customizable appearance and even comes with a robust spell checker. Storable on a flash drive for portable use.
- Is it Christmas? – Hilariously lo-fi site that tells you, in no uncertain terms, if it is in fact Christmas day. Complete with a handy RSS feed, for those too lazy to visit the visually stunning website.
- Creating Patterns in Photoshop CS2 – An old article from the weblog of Veerle Pieters, a fabulous designer from Holland. A great tutorial on creating repeating patterns in Photoshop CS2 (for those still stuck on that version – like me).
- What am I? – You Tube – What Am I? A hilarious and ridiculous video about a little boy and what happens when his dolls come to life. Twisted, and really damn funny (a bit of coarse language, maybe NSFW).
- Leather Works – Handmade leather goods by John C. Roberts on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. I had the pleasure of visiting this man’s shop in the fall of 2006. Truly great leather artistry. Check out the selection of leather buckets. They’re super cool.
- The Wacky Packages Webpages – A site devoted to Wacky Packages, a much-beloved symbol of my (and many other’s) youth. You can order vintage Wackys and also stock up on the new series. Worth a look if you’re into the Wackys.
